Foster a pet, save a life

Foster homes give animals a break from the shelter and a chance to heal, grow and shine. We cover the costs. You give the love.

What fostering looks like

Foster families care for an animal in their own home until it is adopted. Some stays last a week. Others last a few months.

  • We provide food, supplies and all vet care.
  • You get training and a foster coordinator you can call any time.
  • You choose the animals that fit your home and schedule.

Foster questions

Do I have to pay for anything?

No. We provide food, supplies, medicine and all vet care. You provide a safe home and lots of love.

How long does fostering last?

It depends on the animal. Kittens often stay four to eight weeks. Adult dogs may stay until they are adopted.

Can I foster if I have pets?

Yes. We will match you with an animal that gets along with your pets, and help you introduce them.

What if I want to adopt my foster?

We call that a happy ending! Foster families get first chance to adopt.

What if I go out of town?

Just let us know. We will find another foster home to care for your animal while you're away.

Ready to open your home?

Fostering saves two lives: the animal in your home, and the one who takes its place at the shelter.
